HTML Lists


Lists are used to group related pieces of information together, so they are clearly associated with each other and easy to read.

Types of Lists

Unordered List

An unordered list is a collection of related items that have no special order or sequence.
  • unordered Item 1
  • unordered Item 1
  • unordered Item 1
  • unordered Item 1
Unordered Lists have following types to present data.
  • Type=Square.
  • Type=circle.
  • Type=disc.
  • Type=none.

Ordered List

An ordered list is a collection of related items that have special order or sequence.
  1. Ordered Item 1
  2. Ordered Item 1
  3. Ordered Item 1
  4. Ordered Item 1

Ordered Lists have following types to present data.
  • Type=1.
  • Type=A.
  • Type=a.
  • Type=I .
  • Type=i .
Note :-In ordered list Alphabets , number etc are also started from any number and alphabet .

Definition list


In HTML Definition Lists are used to list the data like in a dictionary and encyclopaedia. The following tags are used to make definition lists.
  • <dl> - Defines the start of the list.
  • <dt> - A term.
  • <dd> - Term definition.
  • </dl> - Defines the end of the list
